DCDW was founded in February 2004 as the contentious presidential race was starting. The turnout was amazing at that first historical meeting, and soon afterwards our membership had more than doubled.
Those in attendance were able to capture the high energy of that first meeting by immediately asking for committee volunteers and setting up the next meeting to elect the first DCDW slate of officers. In order to elect a Democratic President decisions had to be made, and a strategy to make our voices heard was born.
The short history of DCDW has already included political candidates from the membership, including University Regent, US Congressional candidate, elected School Board members, County Commissioner candidates, and State Assembly candidates.
